Have We Seen The Last Of Joe Flacco As A Baltimore Raven

For the longest time, we have always know that Joe Flacco would be under center for the Baltimore Ravens. The last couple of seasons Flacco has battled injuries and this season was no exception. The Ravens needed a backup plan and that is why they drafted Lamar Jackson out of Louisville to be the backup. No one really expected Jackson to play much, but plans can always change at a moments notice. When Flacco went down Jackson was inserted into the lineup in hopes he could keep the Ravens afloat.

Jackson has done a great job and continues to do so week after week. No one expected Jackson to keep the job when Flacco was healthy again. Jackson has been on a roll lately and Coach Harbaugh had no choice but to go with the rookie. The chemistry on offense has been great and Harbaugh did not want to mess with the success Jackson has had. Where does this leave Flacco?

Joe Flacco has been a very consistent quarterback most of the time for the Ravens. Now that he is in a backup role will he be happy with it? I think he will not and could ask to be traded or release. I guess it all depends on how Joe Flacco wants to wind down his career.

Ravens, Giants Claim Big Playoff Wins

The Baltimore Ravens knew beating the Houston Texans would not be easy and it wasn't. The Ravens needed four turnovers from their defense to get the 20-13 win over the Houston Texans. It may not have been the best looking win, but when have the Ravens cared about how they get a win. In their book a win is a win and they are moving on. They need one more win and they can be in the Super Bowl once again. That win will be tough as they take on the New England Patriots.

Everyone had the Green Bay Packers back in the Super Bowl, but someone forgot to tell the New York Giants. The Giants used a swarming defense and Eli Manning continued to play big in the Playoffs as the Giants dethroned the defending champions 37-20. Green Bay had chances, but made a lot of mistakes in the game. Give the Giants credit they are on a roll like now and a team that could probably beat anyone because they are talented. I guess we will have to wait and see if they can keep this roll going in San Francisco.

Baltimore Ravens Disappoint Once Again

Everyone always has the Baltimore Ravens at the top of their list of Super Bowl contenders as they have a great defense and a offense that at times plays well. On the flip side though those same Baltimore Ravens can look horrible and that is what happen in their 12-7 lost to Jacksonville. They should have easily beat the Jaguars, but it was Jacksonville that brought the defense.

The Jaguars slowed down Ray Rice, pressured Joe Flacco and held the Ravens to 146 yards—89 of them in the fourth quarter. The Baltimore Ravens had no answer on offense and that has been a recurring theme for the Ravens throughout the years. They have a great defense, but the offense cannot win games when they need them too.

For Jacksonville Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 105 yards, Josh Scobee kicked four field goals, and the Jags defense played big when they needed too. I did not give the Jaguars much of a chance in this game, but they proved they can play football when push comes to shove.

Baltimore Ravens To Release Willis McGahee

The Baltimore Ravens have told running back Willis McGahee they will release him when the league calendar permits it, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. With the lockout over, the league has set a 4 p.m. ET deadline on Thursday for players to be cut or waived. This really should not come as a shock to Ravens fans or others in the league.

Ray Rice is now the feature back in the Ravens offense and McGahee was not getting the type of carries he needs to be effective. I am sure he will hook on with another club once he is released. This is something that we will see more of as Thursday arrives and teams start trimming the fat from their rosters.
