MLB Baseball Is Back But Why?

Well, it took a long time, but Major League Baseball and the Players Union was able to finally agree on something a 60 game season. My question is why are we even playing this season to be brutally honest. How can we determine a true champion when we aren't playing even half of a season. There are some rule changes which I won't go into right now, but there are a few things that worry me.

I think we are going to have a rash of injuries to players even though we are going to have an abbreviated spring training. Players are going to come back out of shape and we are not going to see good baseball to start. We will be seeing a watered-down product just so we can get the season in which it is a shame.

I'd rather skip the season and work on getting things right for next season then rush in on a failed shortened season. Apparently, baseball does not care which is something fans have known for a very long time. After this debacle, it's going to be a while before we see baseball again like we know it.

Could You Please Cancel The MLB Season I'm Tired Of The Drama

MLB Baseball and the Players Association needs to stop this drama, because baseball fans are getting tired of all of this. Both the owners and players are not serious about playing this season. Just cancel it so fans can move on and enjoy their summer. Baseball does not seem to care for the fans, so why should they care about baseball.

I think MLB Baseball is the only sport that doesn't get it. They do not seem to mind losing fans support. It's okay to them, as they are always thinking fans will always come back to the game. One time the fans will not and baseball will struggle for years to come. I think baseball fans are just getting tired of all the bullshit anymore.

Hopefully, baseball will get their act together and we will have baseball, but from what I see don't count on that anytime soon. No matter what happens baseball fans are frustrated where it has been going.

Kyler Murray Declares For Draft Is Baseball Or Football His Real Future

Kyler Murray declared for the NFL Draft which should not come as a shock to anyone. Murry is a two sports star and must decide between football and baseball. The Oakland A's have the right to Murray and will try to persuade him to play baseball instead of football. Will Oakland have any luck persuading Murray to just stick to baseball?

Now Murray is a great athlete and will do well at whichever sport he chooses. Looking over his college baseball stats and he was a good player. Nothing super really stands out to you from the first look. Over time he will become a better player, but becoming a superstar in baseball could be a stretch, but you never know.

Now football it seems to be more suited to his talents. He is a quarterback and he feels nature in that position it seems. He has had great numbers at Oklahoma and showed why many people believe he has a future in the NFL. The only real knock on him is his height. He is not real talent and some talent scouts think that could hinder him at the next level. I like Murray as an NFL quarterback and I think he will be very good if put in the right system. Only time will tell what he decides, but I'm leaning towards football.

The Baseball Hall Of Fame Has Become A Sham

Years ago the Baseball Hall Of Fame was created to reward the best players in baseball. Now the concept seemed great, but over the years it just has not worked out  that way. Players that should be there are still waiting on the call, and some never get it. There have been cases of players dying and not being able to enjoy the reward.

Just like anything else politics has played a role in this as well. Lowering the time a player is on a ballot is not a good thing if they do not get a  certain percentage. Then you have guys that are on the borderline of consideration like Kenny Lofton and the Crime Dog Fred McGriff. Now I am not here to say both should be there, but what do we do with players like this and what they contributed. Should we say your not good enough or you just do not measure up even though both players made big contributions to their respective teams.

I really do not know what the answer it, but right now the Baseball Hall Of Fame and the voting process needs overhauled. Too many good players are getting overlooked or waiting to long to get it and that is a sham as well.

Cubs And Indians Making Baseball Fun Again

Over the last few years it seems baseball has slowly lost fans and viewers, but that sure is changing right now. I'm not a fan of either the Indians Or Cubs, but have found myself watching or listening to the games on the radio. Yes, I said listening to the games on the radio as well. That part takes me back to when I use to listen to the Tigers on radio all the time with Ernie Harwell. Boy that brings back alot of memories.

Both the Cubs and Indians have struggled to get back to the World Seris, but this season both found a way back. Suffering Cubs and Indians fans are delighting in the matchup, but so are the fans of baseball. Both teams are playing the game the way it should be played. You can thank manager of  both teams along with the players. It looks like baseball is back and the real winners are the fans of the sport.

Pete Rose Waves Goodbye To Hall Of Fame As His Betting As A Player Surfaces

Pete Rose had hoped for a chance to make the Hall Of Fame, but it looks like that will never happen anytime soon. Outside The Lines has unearthed a notebook which shows Pete Rose bet on baseball games as a player. This is really disappointing news for many fans whom had hoped Rose was going to be able to make the Hall Of Fame before he died. Now he will never get in and the only person Rose can blame is himself for it. He holds the all-time hits record and it's sad to know he will never make it in.

For  Rose he has always denied betting on baseball as a player, but it looks like there is evidence to the contrary. Hopefully, the story is not true, but it does not look good for Rose. It's a shame it has come down to this, but it looks like that is where we are at with Pete Rose. Lying throughout his career since retirement is something Pete will be known for and that is a shame. Pete's legacy will be nothing but lies and it should not have been that way at all. We will have too see how this all plays out, but hopefully this story is just not true, but not looking good right now.

Ty Cobb vs. Babe Ruth Who Would You Choose To Be The Man

Ty Cobb and Bath Ruth were two of the greatest ballplayers to ever lace them up.  Each played the game hard and neither one like to lose.  Ruth and Cobb's paths crossed many times while they played.  In this article we will look at both players and then try to decide which player we would choose if we could only have one of them.

Both Cobb and Ruth have been called the greatest to play the game of baseball.  Ruth was known for his mammoth homeruns,  but was also a very good pitcher as well.  Cobb on the other hand may have been the greatest hitter of all time.  Cobb was amazing with the bat and could do deep if he needed to as well.  Picking between these two players is very tough indeed.

I loved Ruth could pitch an hit me homeruns when I needed them,  but if I had to pick one guy it would be Ty Cobb.  What many people do not realize about Cobb is he could hit for power if need be.  He just choose not to do that when he played.  As far as an overall player I would take Ty Cobb everytime. He never gave up and would always get you the hit when u needed it.  My choice is Cobb over Ruth.

Baseball Brawl: A's Vs Royals

Over the years we have always had baseball brawls, but it seems lately it has been taken to another level. Many years ago pitchers would protect the plate by hitting players or backing them off. It was a common practice back in the old days. Players understood it and would adjust to it. Fast forward and now we have baseball brawls where in involves many players and really disrupt the game. The other bad part about the new version is someone can seriously get hurt and you never want to see that.

Major League Baseball is going to need to step in before someone gets hurt seriously. Players are paid millions and you cannot have your stars sideline because of these brawls. It hurts teams, the fans, and the game. Baseball is already losing popularity and if this continues it will just hurt the game. I really do not know what the answer is, but something must be done soon. The A's and Royals had multiple players thrown out over their weekend series. Things like this have to stop and real soon.

What Has Happened To Baseball?

Baseball for so many years was labeled America's pastime, but I fear that may not be the case anymore. Growing up I remember going to the ballpark every week enjoying the game with my family. There was specials all the time, so it was very affordable, but that is not the case anymore. I played little league growing up and one day I wanted to be just like my idols. It never happened, but hey kids are allowed to dream.

The baseball I see today do not even look like the sport I loved growing up as a kid. We have steroids, cheating and all kinds of things going on. It's not about the fans anymore it's all about money and that is sad. There was a time where kids could go to the ballpark and eat hotdogs with their families and try to get a foul ball in their glove along with some autographs.

Where has real baseball gone? Soccer, football, and basketball have taken over for baseball it seems. Little league is getting less players and leagues are vanishing quickly. I fear the sport I love is dying a slow death and my grandson will miss out on all the fun baseball was for me growing up. Hopefully, people will see what the game has become and give it back to the fans. I know that will not happen, but I can dream just like I did about being in the Major Leagues.

Don Zimmer Has Died At 83 Years Young

Don Zimmer has passed away at the age of 83. I will admit Don Zimmer was one of my favorite guys in baseball. A friendly guy who love to coach and talk baseball with whomever wanted to listen to him. He almost won a championship as a manager with the Red Sox. His players loved playing for him and always talked fondly about him even when he left for another job.

Zimmer was also Joe Torre's right hand man in New York for many years. Zimmer will be missed in the baseball community. My condolences go out to his family and friends. Baseball has lost a great ambassador in Don Zimmer.

Ichrio Suzuki Closing In On Pete Rose's Hit Record

Now baseball fans might not like it, but a foreign born individual could eventually have the all-time hit record. Pete Rose owns it right now, but Ichrio Suzuki is closing in on 4,000 hits and if he plays at least two more years I see him breaking the record. Now I love Pete Rose, but if anyone breaks the record it would be great to see Ichrio do it. He is a guy who does things the right way and plays the game hard all the time.

When he first came over to America to play in the MLB I never thought he had a chance to break the record. I was wrong as it looks like he will break it in a few years. Ichiro Suzuki has paved the way for future foreign players and I think we could start seeing a lot more as fans are more accepting to them now. Ichrio Suzuki should break the record barring some injury or something else beyond his control. I think him breaking the record will be good for baseball as records are meant to be broken.

Why It's Time Pete Rose Should Be Let Back In The Game

Pete Rose was banished away like a thief in the night from baseball. I understand why he was, but I think he has served a long enough sentence. Bud Selig did not banned Alex Rodriguez for life for using PED's, but Rose did for betting on baseball. Hmm very interesting indeed. Rose knows he made plenty mistakes, but while Pete Rose played he never did anything wrong to the game. I wish we could say the same for A-Rod and others. It seems Rose has served a longer sentence then what players are doing today. I know they weren't exactly the same crimes, but the sentences do not equal out.

As Pete Rose gets older MLB is robbing him a chance of getting into the Hall Of Fame. Rose should be judged on the accomplishments he made on the field. He did not use PED's and played like a true warrior. It is a shame he probably will never get to be in the Hall Of Fame. The chances of anyone breaking his hit record is pretty remote. Hopefully things will change and he will get a chance to be in the Hall Of Fame, but right now it does not look good.

Roger Clemens Still Mowing Down The Competition At 50

Roger Clemens is a guy you either love or hate and many times I think that is the way he likes it sometimes. Clemens pitched 3 1-3 scoreless innings for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Independent Atlantic League. At age 50 Roger Clemens did look very good. When asked about a major league comeback he said no, but sometimes it makes you wonder. Why would a man come out and pitch for a team like this just for fun?

Scouts from Kansas City and Houston were in attendance to watch Roger Clemens pitch. Clemens said he enjoyed pitching in front of the 7,000 plus fans. In the end, we really have no idea why Roger Clemens is pitching at this level. Maybe it is for the enjoyment and giving back to the fans. I think there happens to be an underlying reason in all of this in the end.

Clemens has always wanted to get to the Baseball Hall Of Fame and he knows right now that is probably not likely. Maybe a year in the Major Leagues again may give some credence to that for him. I guess we will just have to wait and see how this all plays out. We did learn Roger Clemens can still pitch well at the age of 50.

Baseball Cards Stash Found Could Be Worth Millions

Baseball cards are still popular today, but finding rare cards in an attic do not happen very often. Karl Kissner was looking around in his grandfathers attic and found a stash of old baseball cards that he could not believe. Names like Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, and Connie Mack were just a few of the 700 cards he found. The cards were hidden under a dollhouse in his grandfathers attic.

Now these cards are going to fetch anywhere between 500,000 to 3 million dollars for the family. His grandfather had them hidden away and are in good condition considering the age. The family should turn a nice profit once the lot is sold. Just goes to prove you never know what you can find in your grandfather's attic once you go through it. You may find a treasure just like Kissner did.

Pirates Grab Their 19th Straight Losing Season With Loss To St. Louis

The Pittsburgh Pirates have clinched their 19th consecutive losing a record for a major league franchise in North America. The Pirates looked like 2011 would be different for them as on July 20 the Pirates were 51-44 and led the NL Central by a half-game. Since that time though the Pirates have gone 16-38 since, and at 67-82 are ensured of another sub.-500 record.

Pirates fans deserve better, but another losing season will go into the books for them. I really thought this would be the year they broke the string, but it will not happen this year. Clint Hurdle had them playing well for awhile, but it is the Pirates and apparently losing continues to be a tradition with them.
