Redskins End The Dwayne Haskins Project After Just Two Years

Dwayne Haskins time has ended which should not come as a surprise to anyone in the NFL. When Haskins was drafted No. 15 by the Redskins they were warned to bring him along slowly. In college, his coaches told the Redskins he needed work, but could eventually be a good quarterback but needed time. Most people thought Haskins should have stayed another year at Ohio State which Haskins would have benefited from for sure.

Haskins made a lot of mistakes along his journey in Washington. From not preparing like he should for NFL games to visiting a strip club. Washington really did not have much of a choice they needed to cut ties with Haskins. What's next for Haskins? A fresh start is exactly what he needs. A change of scenery and time to reflect on what happened in Washington is what Haskins needs.

There will be an NFL team that gives him another chance. Time away is what he needs right now to clear his head and become a better man and player as well. Let's hope Dwayne Haskins has learned from his mistakes and will come back better and ready to help a football team again.

Can Anyone Stop The Ohio State Buckeyes This Year?

Two down for the Ohio State Buckeyes as they have rolled to two easy victories over Nebraska and Penn State. This week they are 34 point favorites at home to Rutgers which is no real surprise. Many people feel that the Buckeyes will have a cakewalk through the Big Ten. Can anyone stop the Buckeyes this season on the quest for a National Title?

Let's start by looking at the Big Ten first and see if any team can give the Buckeyes any type of competition. Indiana, Michigan State, and Michigan are the only teams that could keep it within a two-score game maybe. Indiana is playing well, but the game is at Ohio State. Michigan State does have the Buckeyes at home and you never know if Mel Tucker will have them ready to play against this type of competition. Michigan is a crapshoot because you do not know what kind of team will show up for Michigan. In my opinion, look for the Buckeyes to roll through the Big Ten with ease.

As far as the rest of college football is concerned Ohio State has an excellent chance of going deep into the playoffs. Justin Fields is a Heisman candidate and as long as he stays healthy he has a good shot of winning the award. On offense, the Buckeyes have many players that will be playing on Sundays. Talentwise this could be one of the best Buckeyes teams in recent years. It could come down the only way this team loses is by beating themselves.

Does Latest Ohio State Debacle Cost Them A Playoff Spot?

It seems Ohio State every year travels on the road where they decide not to show up and play good college football and it leaves you scratching your head. This time it was in Purdue as the Buckeyes got pushed around all night long as Purdue dominated them 49-20. It was as bad as the score shows as the Boilermakers were not scared by the No.2 Buckeyes and there high powered offense. This loss really hurts there playoff chances, but it does not eliminate them totally.

Many college football fans think or feel the Buckeyes have no chance, but that's not reality in the college football landscape. Teams can lose a game there suppose to win and still make it. For Ohio State this year could be a tricky one for them. They can make it but will need some help because it could be real close. Here is what must happen for the Buckeyes to have a shot at the playoffs.

The first thing the Buckeyes must do is win out so they can get to the Big Ten Championship game. Purdue also must win out as well so they can avenge their one loss by playing them in the Championship game. A Norte Dame and UCF loss would help alot as well. Ohio State still has a shot and the one thing we have noticed about the committee they will give the Buckeyes a good look even with one loss.

Ohio State Should Not Have Been In College Football Playoffs

No matter what excuse Ohio State fans may want to give themselves for the playoff loss they did not deserve to be in the college football playoffs. Clemson dominated them from start to finish and no one can dispute that one bit. Yes, the Buckeyes are young, but there was some veteran players on the roster as well. Penn State in my opinion was more deserving then the Buckeyes as they did play against one of the hottest teams in USC.

The playoff committee needs to look deeper when they decide on who is in and who is out. Instead of looking at television ratings and the name pick the team that is hot, but also look at whom they have beaten and when it took place. Take the Buckeyes they beat an Oklahoma team that was not really playing well compared to the end of the season. These are important when making decisions about a team. Take USC as well they struggled early, but was a tough team to beat down the stretch. Ohio State was not even their conference champion, so that should have held a lot of wait with the committee, but apparently it didn't.

The committee did get Alabama and Clemson right, but most of us could have done that ourselves. Ohio State was not the fourth best team in country and we all see that, so hopefully the committee was watching and squirming in their seats.

J.T. Barrett WasThe Logical Choice But Is It The Right One

Urban Meyer decided to go win J.T. Barrett and it has already paid dividends, but was it the right choice for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Barrett played well against Rutgers and he silenced the critics for at least another week. As long as the Buckeyes continue to win with Barrett at the helm not much will be said about it. Toss in just one bad game and then you will have the same questions on whom should be quarterback of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

I do like J.T. Barrett a lot, but the reality in my opinion he is not the best quarterback on the team. I think Braxton Miller is much better at quarterback. The problem with putting the quarterback back at the helm is the Buckeyes reply need him at wide receiver. Miller gives the Buckeyes the best chance to win another National Championship. I do think Barrett or Jones can help them as well, but talent wise Miller is the best of the three.

Miller will probably not play quarterback again as it will hurt his chances to make the NFL Draft. Look for Miller to concentrate on wide receiver this season. I still think he gives the Buckeyes the best chance.

Is This The Right Move For Braxton Miller And The Buckeyes?

By now everyone knows that the Ohio State Buckeyes will probably be moving Braxton Miller to HB/wideout this coming season. Many people feel this is a good move for the Buckeyes and Miller. I am not so sure about that one. There are many different things I do not like about the move, and some I do like. Let us look deeper into this and see what the right move is for Braxton Miller and The Buckeyes.

Now this will give the Buckeyes a chance to add another offensive weapon to there already talented offense. Many people think that is a good thing. In one way it is and another way it is not. This gives Miller a chance at another injury which you really do not want to see. Yes, Ohio State has plenty of quarterbacks, but you never are guarantee they will play like they did last season. Miller should benefit from the change in the sense his draft stock should rise if he does well. It could also fall if he gets injured or struggles in his new role.

In the end, I just think you are risking too much and losing him for all year is not what you want to do. If you limit his playing time that is an option, but wont make him happy. Either way you go there are pluses and minuses. I'm glad I'm not making this call on this young man's future.

Cardale Jones Buckeyes Unsung Hero

When the College Football season started no one knew who Cardale Jones was or if he could play consistently at this level. Jones has quickly silenced all his critics. Jones came out of Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio where he led his team to the 2009 High School Championship game in Division 1. He was a very good high school player. His academics were not where they needed to be so he went to Fort Military Academy for a semester before enrolling at Ohio State. Cardale  Jones has a cannon for an arm and can do many wonderful things o the field of play.

There have been many amazing stories about Jones most about his arm strength. Even by his own account Jones says he can throw it 80-85 yards which is simply amazing. In practice players have watched him throw it 60 yards from one knee. If that story is true that is amazing as well. The one thing about Cardale Jones he is more of a pro type quarterback and in the Buckeyes offense that is a good thing.

The one thing we have learned about Cardale Jones he is a big time college quarterback. He has not let the pressure get to him. He has been poise under the gun and even if he does not start next season he has made a lasting impression. The NFL is always looking for players with cannons for arms with poise.

Ohio State Buckeyes 2012 College Football Schedule Preview

Time For Sports Blogging Network To Go Around College Football and see how some of the programs should fare this upcoming season. The first schedule we will look at is the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes have a new coach in Urban Meyer and the Buckeye faithful will look for him to get this program back to the top. I have no doubt he will, but let us take a look at the Buckeyes schedule coming into the 2012-2013 season.
The first four games should help the Buckeyes get a fast start as they are not too tough at all. After that though the Big Ten schedule starts and it gets a lot tougher. On Sept 29th they go play Michigan State on the road that is a tough test for them. They also have Penn State and Wisconsin on the road as well two more tough road games. The Buckeyes in my opinion are looking at and 10-2 or 9-3 record this season. That is not bad considering all they went through last season.

Jim Tressel Lands Job In Akron As An Administrator

Jim Tressel has found another job, but not the kind that we may all think. Tressel who resigned from Ohio State will be taking a job with the University of Akron as an Administrator. Tressel has been hired as vice president for strategic engagement and will earn a base salary of $200,000 per year. The job starts May. 1 and he will be working with alumni, community organizations and friends of the school to develop strategies and efforts to help students succeed.

It is a non-athletic position and should be a good move for Jim Tressel. I do hope he does get back into coaching at some point as he was a good football coach. He made some bad decisions and that really hurt him. Getting a fresh start is what he needed and starting somewhere else is a good idea for him. Hopefully, somewhere down the road we will see him again on the football field coaching.

Taylor Martinez Silents Critics As He Leads Nebraska to 34-27 win Over Ohio State

Last week when Taylor Martinez threw three interceptions many people took shots at him, but he did not mind he kept his poise and moved on. Down 20-6 at halftime to Ohio State it was Taylor Martinez and the Huskers defense that silent their critics. Martinez played a brilliant second half and Nebraska scored 28 unanswered points for a 34-27 win over the Buckeyes.

For awhile it looked like it was going to be a repeat for the Nebraska Cornhuskers as the defense was getting shredded by the Buckeyes offense. In the second half, the defense played much better and Taylor Martinez showed people what he can do with his feet and his arm. Martinez made all the right plays and grew up as a quarterback on this night.

Many people do not realize that he only has a number of starts under his belt and he will make mistakes just like he did against Wisconsin. This time he came through when it counted. Martinez is growing as a quarterback and only will get better. This time around Martinez is all smiles as he led Nebraska to victory.

We Will See If Baker Mayfield Was Worth The Money This Sunday Against Atlanta

This past Monday Night was very costly for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they lost both wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Evans should be...
