We Will See If Baker Mayfield Was Worth The Money This Sunday Against Atlanta

This past Monday Night was very costly for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they lost both wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Evans should be back in a few weeks, but Godwin will be gone for the season it looks like right now. Tampa Bay has a tough three-game stretch ahead with Atlanta, Kansas City, and San Francisco. Losing their top two receivers hurts, but the next man-up mentality will need to occur.

When the Buccaneers signed Baker Mayfield to an extension, we will find out if he was worth the money. Mayfield will get a chance to lead the Buccaneers without two of their biggest stars, so a lot of pressure will be on his shoulders. Buccaneer fans will be able to see if he can handle it and if he should be rewarded another contract in the future.

Mayfield is going to have to trust the players he has left on offense. No more Godwin or Evans to rely on any longer. The running game that has come to life recently will need be used even more in games. Taking some of the pressure off of Baker Mayfield is also very important. You can't expect Mayfield to do it all, but he cannot throw interceptions or turn the ball over.

This game is huge for the Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield. They have already lost to Atlanta and cannot afford another letdown. Divisional games are always tight and this one will probably be the same way as the last one that went overtime.

Is Baker Mayfield Worth 44 Million As Bucs Quarterback?

Baker Mayfield right now is talking with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers about a new contract. It has been reported he is seeing around 44 million a year, but I do not know that to be true or not. Let's use that number as a starting point in this article. Is Baker worth 44 million? Let's talk a little about Baker and what I think he would be worth to the Buccaneers.

You cannot start talk about money without taking into consideration the Buccaneers basically were then only team offering Mayfield a contract last year. Most teams passed on Mayfield, but the Buccaneers gave him an opportunity to be in this position. I think the Buccaneers were hoping for a hometown discount, but it looks like Mayfield's camp is not in on that kind of thinking.

The number that the Buccaneers are looking for is 22-30 million range is what I'm guessing as a good number for them. Mayfield is looking for 44 million as a starting point according to various reports. So right now they are far apart, but are still working on trying to get a deal done before Monday.

The real question is Bake Mayfield worth 44 million a year or even more. I love what baker brought to the Buccaneers on and off the field, but that number 44 million is a little high. I hope the Buccaneers do not go past 35 million with Mayfield. I have this feeling they may do that though in the long run. I look for Tampa Bay to draft a quarterback in the draft as well. What about Kyle Trask?

In college at Florida Kyle Trask threw for over 60 touchdowns and just 15 interceptions. He is talented, but the Buccaneers do not seem to trust him at all and that makes me wonder. They must not feel comfortable with him or they would not have looked towards Baker Mayfield last year.

I guess we will see how much the Buccaneers pay Mayfield, but if they do not look for Trask to be given his chance and the Bucs draft a quarterback as well. I do think the Bucs will bite the bullet and pay Mayfield. Even if its more then they want too. Mayfield knows no matter what he will be paid by the Bucs or someone else.

Baker Mayfield Continues To Show The Buccaneers Why He Is A Franchise Quarterback

Baker Mayfield was a No.1 pick just a few years ago and now he is trying to get back to those lofty goals. Going into the 2023 season no one really wanted him, but Tampa Bay decided to kick the tires and are glad they did. Mayfield has been worth every bit of the 4 million they were paying him. He came in and became a part of team and not a distraction. This is something he has been accused of early in his career a distraction to the team and others.

The Buccaneers have seen a more matured Baker Mayfield. He has been all about the team and not worried about himself. He has played some of the best football in his career. If you ask Buccaneer players about Baker Mayfield, you will hear nothing but good things about him. Sometimes it takes a while to mature in the NFL. Mayfield has realized his time could be running out as a starter, so he has to make the most of this one.

Baker has gotten the Buccaneers into the playoffs and just recently beat the Eagles. This week they travel to Detroit for another playoff game. Mayfield is playing with house money right now. He has nothing to lose and will play loose and free. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing just like their quarterback loose and free. No one gave the Buccaneers a chance this season, so each step is a win for them.

What Team Gives Baker Mayfield The Best Chance For Success

The one thing we can say about Baker Mayfield is you either love him to death or hate him just as much. We do know Mayfield will not be the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns this upcoming season. Where could Baker Mayfield land? Is he the next Johnny Manziel or another first round bust. Let's look at some of these questions and how we see it here at Baseball Blogging Network.

One of the things I've been hearing which is so wrong and that is Baker Mayfield is a bust. He is far from that and here is why. He had some good seasons in Cleveland. They were not his best, but they were not terrible either. People have to consider many factors when evaluating Baker Mayfield as a quarterback. Yes when he was healthy he was a Top10 quarterback in the NFL. Unhealthy and he was like most quarterbacks he was not very good.

Where could Baker Mayfield take his next snaps at? Some people are hinting once cut he could be with the Detroit Lions or the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams have shown interest in him and either one probably could work for Mayfield. If Mayfield wants to see his full potential he may need to be a backup for a year or two. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a perfect landing spot for him and here is why.

Mayfield would be able to learn from Tom Brady for one or two seasons. The experience he would get from this is invaluable to him becoming a better player. The Buccaneers have the team in place that could plug Mayfield in and he could be an instant success. Offensively, the Buccaneers have talented receivers with one of the best offensive lines. They have a great offensive coaches with Byron Leftwich leading the way.

Baker Mayfield has to check his ego at the door and become a team player, but once he does once Tom Brady retires the keys to the team will be his. The question is can Baker Mayfield sit and learn from the master.

What I Want To See From The Browns In These Final Few Games!

The Cleveland Browns season isn't totally lost, but right now you could say it's on life support. This doesn't mean they cannot still accomplish some things heading into the 2020 season. Let's take a closer look at what is left for the Cleveland Browns in the 2019 season.
Cleveland must first and foremost figure on how to make OBJ a vital part of the offense. This season it seems OBJ is lost and does not know what Cleveland expects from him. Cleveland needs to get him involved in the offense early in games. It seems as the game goes longer he loses interested and Cleveland doesn't consider him an option to go too. When you got a talent like OBJ you must make sure he is involved from start to finish.
Another thing Cleveland must decide on is Head Coach Freddie Kitchens as well. Do they keep him or fire him? Kitchens has not done a very good job in my opinion. At times he looks totally lost. Cleveland needs to make sure this is the guy they want to move forward with for a long time. Is this the guy who will push Mayfield and make him a better player? Can he make players accountable for their actions as well? Lots of questions ownership must figure out.
Lastly, Cleveland has four games left and must finish strong. It gives the Browns a chance to prove this season was not a lost cause. By running the table the off-season will be a lot easier to take. If the Browns lose any of these games it's going to be a very long off-season.

Baker Mayfield Walks Out Of Press Conference Say It Isn't So

It seems it just keeps getting worse for Baker Mayfield this season. He walked out of his press conference after he was not happy with some questions a reporter asked him. Baker has butt heads with this reporter before it seems. This is really no surprise as the season for Baker and the Browns continue to spiral out of control. Now one thing Mayfield has not learned yet is he cannot let reporters get under his skin. It just does not look good on him no matter if he is right. Reporters have a job and answering the questions no matter how dumb you think they may be is just part of your job.

Baker Mayfield is a young man that has a lot to learn and over time he will learn from this encounter with this reporter. Winning is what cures problems with the media. When you win they have less opportunity to ask you dumb questions. Right now the Browns are struggling and until they consistently start winning this will be an every week occurrence it seems.

Cleveland has a tough game in Denver and his single focus should be on them not a reporters questioning. Hopefully, Mayfield will learn that sometimes you have to play nice with reporters, but knowing Baker that's just not possible.

When The Hype Stops The Real Cleveland Browns Appear It Seems

The Cleveland Browns were given plenty of hype in the off-season and it seems the hype train has derailed already for Browns fans. Now the season is still early, but there was so much promise for the 2019-20 edition of the Cleveland Browns. What has gone wrong for the Browns this season? It can be narrowed down to a few things, and we will look at some of those things.

It all starts with the quarterback and Baker Mayfield has struggled with consistency and stays upright in the pocket. The offensive line has struggled and that has not helped Mayfield in his second year which was supposed to be his breakout season. When you have a young quarterback you must have every piece work together or they will struggle.

Cleveland has one of the best receiver group in the whole NFL, but they have not lived up to the hype as well. Why is that? Simply put it takes time to gel as a group and it may take a season together before you see any real success. OBJ, Jarvis Laundry are two of the best in the league and will be fine once they get more playing time together.

Out of everything so far this season the defense, in my opinion, has been the most disappointing unit of them all. They have had some injuries, but they are such a talented group. There is no excuse for giving up as many points and yards they have this season. They must get better if the Browns are going to improve this season.

Overall the Browns should be okay after next week's Patriots game. The schedule gets a lot easier which should help them out a lot. The bottom line is they must continue to improve every week if they want to be a playoff team.

Baker Mayfield Keeps Browns Slim Playoff Hopes Alive With Another Win

Baker Mayfield keeps doing whatever it takes to win games and Cleveland Browns fans could not be happier. Mayfield did not play well in the Browns latest win a 17-16 up against the Denver Broncos on the road. People need to realize it does not matter what the score is or how bad you play it's all getting about getting the win. At Oklahoma Mayfield proved to be a winner and at this level, he has done that as well. I think great things will come from Baker Mayfield Browns fans just need to be patient as there will be highs and lows as well.
Overall Mayfield did make some mistakes and it was a sloppy game, to say the least. Cleveland made mistakes on both sides of the ball and that probably will continue for rest of the season. They are a young team and getting them to listen and follow directions sometimes can be a daunting task, to say the least. The key to the Browns and how well this resurgence will do is the coach. Will Gregg Williams stay at the helm or will they bring someone else in to run the team. By the way, the Browns are playing right now you may want to keep Gregg Williams around for a lot longer. Everything is clicking and sometimes it is best not to mess with a good thing.

Browns And Buccaneers Both At Crossroads Already This Season

The Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter this Sunday at a crossroad in their respective seasons. For the Cleveland Browns after beating the Baltimore Ravens they felt they were headed in the right direction. That train got derailed last week with a drubbing at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers. Tampa Bay started at like a house of fire, but that it seems was a long time ago. The Bucs are struggling to win ball games and many issues have cropped up for them as well. Today, we will take a quick look at both teams and what their major problems happen to be right now.

Tampa Bay has one of the best offenses in the NFL ranking either one or two most weeks. The Bucs can score points and a lot of them. One of there issues on offense is they virtually have no running game at all. This means teams know they are going to pass it to their talented core of receivers but no one seems to be able to stop it. You would think they would be at the top of there division because of it, but they are not. Tampa Bay has one of the worse defenses in the NFL. They give up huge chunks of yardage and points. This usually puts all the pressure on the offense to outscore their opponents. In today's NFL that just is not possible.

The Cleveland Browns have issues as well and are at a crossroad as well. After the drubbing by the Chargers, many things are starting to come out about this young Browns team. Words such as fragile and not on the same page are being heard. Injuries are also playing a role as well. Players like Jarvis Landry hasn't produced the numbers the Browns had hoped for to this point. Trading away Josh Gordon was probably not a good move considering the Browns injuries as wide receiver. This is a young team and when you start to lose finger pointing starts to come out. Baker Mayfield is not use to losing and that is why this week in Tampa is so important to both teams.

Tampa Bay and Cleveland both are at crossroads and which team will do enough to win this game. The losing team could find their season spiraling out of control. This is why both teams understand this is a must win this Sunday. The question is who will want it more Tampa Bay or Cleveland.

NFL Draft: Why Its So Hard To Hit On A Quarterback

Maybe one of the toughest things for NFL teams to do is find the perfect quarterback in the NFL Draft. Why is that?  It comes down to a few things that many people just do not look at when they draft quarterbacks.  No matter how talented a quarterback maybe they must fit into the system they are going to in the NFL.  Some quarterbacks play better in certain systems.  If you look over the years you will see many quarterbacks with talent but struggled during their careers.

Another big part of projecting a quarterbacks success is how well they mess with the players around them.  Certain quarterbacks are more comfortable with a certain type of receiver while others it does not matter.  A running game is also very important in the early years for a quarterback.  The less you ask them to do the better.  As they get more experience they will become better, but throwing them to the sharks to early is a recipe for disaster.

Lastly,  coaching cannot be underestimated either.  Finding a quarterback that meshes with a coach early using will find success much quicker.  Coaches and quarterbacks that butt heads will lead to more on the field issues then people realize.  Having a coach that molds and understands there quarterback usually means quicker success down the road.

As you can see there is alot of things going into picking a quarterback  in the NFL draft.  This is why so many quarterbacks eventually are label NFL busts.  Finding the perfect fit is tough as the quarterback graveyard of what might have been will continue to grow.
