Could The Nebraska Cornhuskers Be One of The Biggest Surprises In College Football?

The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team and fanbase has seen many lean years lately, but that could change in 2024. Matt Rhule was brought in to turn the program around and bring back the glory days. The first year under Rhule was a learning process for fans and  players alike. Rhule got the Cornhuskers to a 5-7 record, but they were in many of their seven losses in 2023-2024 season. What does the 2-24-2025 season look like for the Cornhuskers and their fans.

Matt Rhule has always been good at recuriting and the off-season seen him make some great strides. Maybe his No.1 move was being able to get one of the best quarterbacks to decommit from Georgia to come to Nebraska. Dylan Raiola was a highly prized player that many top colleges wanted. Rhule and the lure of Nebraska was too much and Raiola transferred to Nebraska.

Maybe one of the things that will help Nebraska turn it around this season is the defense. Last season they were one of the better units in all of college football. If they can repeat the same success in 2024 Nebraska could make huge strides. The Nebraska defense sets the table for the Cornhuskers and is a vital cog in this turnaround.

Nebraska still needs great quarterback play as last season that position turned the ball over to many times. Raiola is a huge upgrade at that position and will be very important to there success. If Raiola can play well and not turn the ball over look for the Cornhuskers to be one of the bright stories in 2024.

Ohio State Could Become Big Alabama Fans Real Soon

Now, this really wasn't unexpected news as the Big Ten Conference let the Ohio State Buckeyes slide into the Big Ten Championship game against Northwestern. Ohio State was undefeated, but there was a six-game minimum to get to the Championship game. After Michigan canceled Ohio State couldn't make the number of games needed, but Big Ten changed their mind once again.

I could feel bad for Ohio State, but they would have made the minimum without any help if they wouldn't have to cancel a game on their own. So, I can't really feel bad for them, but as usual, the Big Ten decides to do what they want no matter what rules they set forth. I guess this should not surprise anyone really. Did Ohio State deserve this break?

The answer is probably yes, as they were undefeated in the limited schedule they did play. Are they the best team in the Big Ten the answer is yes, so I can't be too upset about this decision? My only problem is you cannot keep changing rules to benefit one team over another. It's interesting though that Iowa did not vote on this rule change they just listened to a conference call when the decision was made. That tells me some people were not happy with this special treatment for Ohio State.

Alabama could become the biggest friend for Ohio State. If Florida upsets the Crimson Tide and Clemson beats the Irish the Ohio State Buckeyes could find themselves on the outside looking in. I just can't see them getting in with only six wins. Florida, Alabama, Clemson, and Notre Dame's resume is just better than the Buckeyes. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Ohio State Should Not Have Been In College Football Playoffs

No matter what excuse Ohio State fans may want to give themselves for the playoff loss they did not deserve to be in the college football playoffs. Clemson dominated them from start to finish and no one can dispute that one bit. Yes, the Buckeyes are young, but there was some veteran players on the roster as well. Penn State in my opinion was more deserving then the Buckeyes as they did play against one of the hottest teams in USC.

The playoff committee needs to look deeper when they decide on who is in and who is out. Instead of looking at television ratings and the name pick the team that is hot, but also look at whom they have beaten and when it took place. Take the Buckeyes they beat an Oklahoma team that was not really playing well compared to the end of the season. These are important when making decisions about a team. Take USC as well they struggled early, but was a tough team to beat down the stretch. Ohio State was not even their conference champion, so that should have held a lot of wait with the committee, but apparently it didn't.

The committee did get Alabama and Clemson right, but most of us could have done that ourselves. Ohio State was not the fourth best team in country and we all see that, so hopefully the committee was watching and squirming in their seats.

We Will See If Baker Mayfield Was Worth The Money This Sunday Against Atlanta

This past Monday Night was very costly for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they lost both wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Evans should be...
