Browns And Buccaneers Both At Crossroads Already This Season

The Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter this Sunday at a crossroad in their respective seasons. For the Cleveland Browns after beating the Baltimore Ravens they felt they were headed in the right direction. That train got derailed last week with a drubbing at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers. Tampa Bay started at like a house of fire, but that it seems was a long time ago. The Bucs are struggling to win ball games and many issues have cropped up for them as well. Today, we will take a quick look at both teams and what their major problems happen to be right now.

Tampa Bay has one of the best offenses in the NFL ranking either one or two most weeks. The Bucs can score points and a lot of them. One of there issues on offense is they virtually have no running game at all. This means teams know they are going to pass it to their talented core of receivers but no one seems to be able to stop it. You would think they would be at the top of there division because of it, but they are not. Tampa Bay has one of the worse defenses in the NFL. They give up huge chunks of yardage and points. This usually puts all the pressure on the offense to outscore their opponents. In today's NFL that just is not possible.

The Cleveland Browns have issues as well and are at a crossroad as well. After the drubbing by the Chargers, many things are starting to come out about this young Browns team. Words such as fragile and not on the same page are being heard. Injuries are also playing a role as well. Players like Jarvis Landry hasn't produced the numbers the Browns had hoped for to this point. Trading away Josh Gordon was probably not a good move considering the Browns injuries as wide receiver. This is a young team and when you start to lose finger pointing starts to come out. Baker Mayfield is not use to losing and that is why this week in Tampa is so important to both teams.

Tampa Bay and Cleveland both are at crossroads and which team will do enough to win this game. The losing team could find their season spiraling out of control. This is why both teams understand this is a must win this Sunday. The question is who will want it more Tampa Bay or Cleveland.

Steelers vs Browns Who Wins The Opener?

The new look Cleveland Browns finally get to take the field today and remove the sour taste of a 0-16 season from their mouths and bodies. The problem is they will be facing one of the better teams in the NFL in the Pittsburgh Steelers who have a lot to play for themselves in this game. Let's take a closer look at the game and give our bold prediction on this game.

Let's take a look at the offenses of both teams:

Cleveland's offense is so much better this opener than last year. Cleveland signed Tyrod Taylor and have No.1 pick Baker Mayfield baking him up. Compared to last season a huge upgrade. Toss in wideout Jarvis Laundry and Josh Gordon and you have a potent offense. Maybe the biggest improvement may come in Todd Haley the Browns new offense coordinator. He is great at his job and will make a huge difference on this offense.

Pittsburgh, of course, has Big Ben still at the helm and Antonio Brown and some very good wide receivers to throw the ball too. There will be no LeVeon Bell for the Steelers, but they still have one of the best offensive lines in football. Pittsburgh will rely on Big Ben's arm and game management in this game.

ADVANTAGE: Steelers but not by much.

On defense, the Browns are heads and shoulders above the Steelers. Cleveland has spent money and draft pics on their defense and it shows. Myles Garrett is a beast and the linebackers are some of the best in the league. Steelers, on the other hand, has many holes in there defense and Cleveland should be able to score against them.

ADVANTAGE: Browns

Special teams are another area we must see improvement in the Browns. Last season they really had some issues. On the other hand, Pittsburgh special teams are usually in the Top 15 every year.

ADVANTAGE: Pittsburgh

PREDICTION: The Browns are so much better this season and look for this game to be really competitive. Pittsburgh knows they are going be in a dogfight in this one. I just think Pittsburgh being the veteran team will make just enough plays in the end to win. It will be close 31-28 Steelers.

Are The Cleveland Browns Really A Playoff Capable Team?

The Cleveland Browns have been the laughing stock of the NFL the last two years, but that will be ending very soon. Cleveland Browns fans are always optimistic every year, but this season seems a lot different. Gone are many players from the 1-31 teams replaced by veterans and free agent signings. It seems a new look and attitude abounds in Berea, Ohio and Browns fans will tell you its about time.

Baker Mayfield was drafted No.1 as the future quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, but getting Tyrod Taylor from the Bills was also very important. Taylor is a quarterback that will give you a chance to win. Last season the quarterback position cost the Browns some wins. With Taylor, he will limit his mistakes and give you a chance to win. Probably the other big dal the Browns make was getting Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins. Landry is a receiver who moves the chains and makes the tough catch when you need it. With Josh Gordon and Jarvis Landry, the Browns now have a great one-two punch.

On the defensive side of the equation, the Browns addressed the secondary which needed to be upgraded. Rookie Denzel Ward brings a toughness to corner and he is going to surprise people with his tough-minded playing ability. Overall, the defense is vastly approved as well. Can Cleveland make a playoff run this season?

Cleveland has to be one of the most improved teams going into the 2018-19 season. The key will be how well they mesh early and the kind of start they get off too. If they struggle out of the gates it could be a long season. I don't forsee that happening as they have too many talented players on both sides of the ball. What also helps Cleveland is most of the great teams are in the NFC  not in the AFC. Cleveland will be a middle of the road team, but there are many like that in the AFC. The Browns have a good chance as anyone else to be a playoff team in the AFC in 2018-2019 Go Brownies!

Will You Watch The Spring Football League?

The Spring Football is headed back but will they get enough people to actually care about it. The idea of this league is to fill the void when the NFL is not playing. It also gives a chance for players hoping for a return to the NFL and the ability to show scouts and owners they are good enough to play in the NFL. I have never watched the Spring Football league, but I hope to see a few games and report on them.

Johnny Manziel has signed on to play so that should be interesting. Kellen Winslow Jr is another name that will be playing in this league. Games will be played April 7th April 14 this coming season. I do not know what kind of football we will see, but it should be interesting to say the least. Hope it's not horrible as I think it could not be what many people expect.

Johnny Manziel Not Happy About Benching

Johnny Manziel was the starter one week and it probably made him very happy, but another week has come and he finds himself on the bench. Is this fair to Johnny Football? I will admit I thought the Cleveland Browns should have left Johnny Football as the starter, but this does not surprise me at all. Generally, starters do not lose their stopping spot because of an injury and that is what happen to Josh McCown.

Josh McCown has cleared all the tests and he will be back on the field for the Cleveland Browns as their starter. Where does this leave Johnny Football? The truth is back on the bench to think about his future. Johnny cannot be happy as he got the Browns there first win, but got no respect for it. I am sure Johnny had hoped he would be the starter again for another week. It did not work that way for Johnny Manziel.

Hopefully, Johnny will stay positive and he will get another shot at being a starter. He did not play the best last week, but a win is a win. It does not matter if it looked pretty as long as it goes in the win column. Johnny's performance sure was alot better then what we seen from him last season.

Can Jameis Winston Improve In Game 2

Jameis Winston did not look very good in his debut and it has many people wondering  if he will be an NFL quarterback. What many people tend to forget it is pre-season and it takes some time for a player to get use to the game. No matter how good you are the game is much different then the college game. In college you may only see a few exceptional players on a team. The NFL has them at every position which makes it a lot tougher.

Ball security is something Winston must always  keep in mind. If you are struggling just do not turn the ball over. When you do you will find a quick exit out of this league. Players who make mistakes are cut because teams know there is always someone waiting in the wings to take there place.

I personally  like Winston and what he can do for a team. If people give Winston time he should become a good NFL quarterback. In Tampa he has some very good receivers and coaches. His players believe in him and that is usually half the battle. Winston just needs to relax and perform better in game 2 of his career.

The Tom Brady Decision Can Effect The 2015 Season In Many Ways

Tom Brady is waiting for a decision from the commissioner on what his future will look like for the 2015 football season. Many people do not realize how his suspension could have an impact in their team. New England with Tom Brady is a very good team, but without him the Patriots could lose those games. The impact could help certain teams make the playoffs depending on scheduling  and wins and losses.

The suspension has everyone in pins and needles to see if they will have to face Brady this coming season.  The announcement of the decision is something that may not come right away.  Either way once it is announced  other legal options could be used by Brady if he is not happy with suspension length or wording.

No matter what happens I do not think this is not going to end anytime soon. Brady does not want to sit any games at all,  but do not see that happening.

Why The Cleveland Browns Continue To Be A Losing Franchise

After the original Browns left for Baltimore once Cleveland got back a new team things were suppose to be much better for Cleveland fans, but that has not been the case. In fact, it seems the franchise continues to struggle and still the butt of jokes around the league. Why has this franchise struggle so much in recent years? Let's take a closer look at why the Browns just plain suck.

The Browns have made alot of mistakes and one of the biggest problems is mismanagement from the top. Cleveland has never put the proper people in the right places and that has hurt the franchise alot. They continue to struggle to draft productive players and they are still looking for a quarterback. When they do get good people they seem to alienate them and they leave. It's like a revolving door in Cleveland and you cannot have that at all.

Good players and coaches do not want to come to Cleveland as they know how it is. Why go somewhere where you will never get the chance you deserve. Coaches and players many times need a few years to gel, but Cleveland is trigger happy many times. Until the Browns get the right people in the right jobs they will continue to struggle. The bad part it's the Cleveland fans who suffer the most as they deserve much more from ownership.

Why Cleveland Had To Draft Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns are looking to get back on top and the best way to start is getting a quarterback that has proven he can win games. Johnny Manziel won plenty of games at Texas A&M, but that does not mean he will see success in the NFL. Cleveland has a rabid fan base and to keep them coming back drafting Johnny Football was a no brainer.

Jerseys are flying off the shelves and season tickets are moving well. Johnny Football has hit Ohio and Browns fan could not be happier. Everything seems right with the Browns, but unless they get some offensive help for Johnny Manziel he will have a short career.

Cowboys Miss Playoffs Again Not Romo's Fault This Time

For the last few years everyone wanted to jump on Tony Romo for failing to get the Cowboys to the playoffs. This season the Cowboys again had a chance at the playoffs only to see a late interception end there chances for the post-season. Kyle Orton played in place of Tony Romo who had back surgery and was unable to play for the Cowboys.

Kyle Orton did not play bad, but the interception killed him at the end. You cannot put this all on Orton as he did not have a hand in the other Cowboy losses. The bottom line is the Dallas Cowboys should have never been in this position in the first place. If they would have take care of business like they should they would have already clinched a playoff berth.

Many questions now surround the Dallas Cowboys and there coach Jason Garrett. Will Garrett be back as Cowboys coach. It's hard to say as you never know with Jerry Jones. Either way something must change as the Dallas Cowboys cannot continue to miss the playoffs.

Could We See T.O. In The NFL In 2013?

Terrell Owens have not played for awhile, but his agent is still looking for a job for his client in 2013. T.O.'s agent has talked to a bunch of teams that have shown interest in him if they have injuries on their team. Terrell Owens always stays in great shape and should not have a problem making a team if he is given a chance. The last team T.O played for was Seattle and he lost out to a numbers game. If T.O. does not make a team this year he has said he will probably retire.

I think Terrell Owens may hook up with a team this season as he is talented and can stay out of trouble. I will admit I have missed hearing his boasts and all the antics we get with him. The antics actually take away from how talented he really happens to me. If he did not do the antics teams may take him more seriously. Either way Terrell Owens is not going to change anytime soon that's for sure.

Packers: Time To Retire No.4 And Show Brett Favre The Respect He Deserves

The Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre are not on the greatest terms right now, but this means it gives the Green Bay Packers a chance to do the right thing. Brett Favre never wanted to go anywhere as he has always wanted to retire as a Packer. Aaron Rodgers said it best when it is time to heal and move on and do the right thing. Brett Favre gave many years to the Green Bay organization, team, and the fans. Will the Packers do the right thing and retire his No.4 before he gets inducted into Canton, Ohio?

Sometimes in football these divorces are messing ones and right now that is what this one happens to be. Brett Favre and the Packers need to work this out. Favre will always be remember as one of the greatest quarterbacks ever and should have his number retired. Even though the Packers and him are not on the best of terms we all know when Canton calls he will go in as a Green Bay Packer. Like Aaron Rodgers said it is time to heal and move on. Favre's No.4 should be retired and as soon as possible.

JaMarcus Russell Attempting To Make A Comeback

There are many things in life you do not want people to consider you and one of those is an NFL bust. JaMarcus Russell came out of college and has never full filled his dream of being an NFL star. In fact, JaMarcus has been out of the league for awhile and is making a comeback. Does he have a chance of making in the NFL? This time around he may just be able to finally be the quarterback everyone thought he could. He has a lot of people helping him get his priorities straight and that is something that he was missing.

In the end though it is gong to come down to what he wants and how hard he is willing to work for it. JaMarus is a talente young man, but he has to want it and be willing to work for it. The last time in the NFL He was lazy and that got him a ticket ut of the NFL. Hopefully, he has learned from his mistakes and will be a productive quarterback for an NFL football team this coming season

Concussions Killing The NFL

Concussions lately have been the talk of most NFL fans and people in the know. The NFL has taken a lot of negative press for concussions, but I am here to say it should not all be on the NFL. Yes, it is a problem and the NFL does need to do more, but players have to be honest as well. I will bet you that many NFL players are not truthful with doctors so they can continue playing. It has always been that way and I do not see that stopping anytime soon.

The truth is players are putting their futures in jeopardy and they do not seem to care either. That is sad, but a reality that we are facing right now. The NFL does need to do more, but the players have to be honest as well. If players are not going to be honest about their injuries the NFL has its hands tied. Hopefully, NFL players will not hide information from doctors as in reality they are hurting themselves later in life.

NFL Draft Must See Television Anymore

The NFL Draft many years ago was really not a big thing, but that has sure changed. The NFL Draft is now on prime time and the fans love it. This years draft though may not have as much excitement as past drafts, but you never know. The Colts and Redskins already have their picks they have decided on, so this means the third pick could be interesting to say the least. Many people do not know what the Minnesota Vikings will do or even if they will keep it. Many teams are trying to move up in the draft and that always makes it exciting for the fans.

Andrew Luck will go no.1 and Robert Griffin III will go second, but after that it is anyone's guess. The NFL has marketed the Draft very well and with great college players coming out year after year look for it to grow. The excitement this year will probably be picks 3-15 and any number of teams could move up and down the board. It will be interesting to see what teams do and who they are willing to trade to get the player that they want.

Can Tony Romo Save The Dallas Cowboys Season?

Tony Romo all season long has had a lot of pressure put on his shoulders, but nothing like it will be this weekend against the New York Giants. Tony Romo is expected to play even though he has a banged up hand. All season long Romo has made a habit of making mistakes that has cost his team. This week it will be Tony Romo the Dallas Cowboys turn to for a miracle. Romo has the ability to play well and can get the job done, but he cannot do it alone.

Romo will need help from others if he is going to be able to play the whole game. Wide receivers and the running game need to take some of the pressure off of Romo. Many times this season the Dallas Cowboys have screwed up at the end and it has cost them games. Now they are hoping a banged up Tony Romo can breath life into them and get them into the playoffs. The one thing about Tony Romo is you never know what your going to get. If you get the good Tony Romo the Dallas Cowboys will be heading to the playoffs. If the bad one shows up it will be a long and tough off-season in Cowboy land.

Brewers Have No Answers Against Yankees In Back to Back Routs

The Milwaukee this weekend has a series with the New York Yankees and it did not end well. The Brewers suffered back to back losses to the ...
