It has been a few years since Mack Brown and his Texas Longhorns have played in a National Championship, but that has not slowed down the Texas Longhorns. Yes, Longhorn fans have not been happy with results in the last few years, but the Longhorns have done things the right way. They have kept Mack Brown on as coached when some wanted him to go. How has Mack Brown paid back the faith in him? The Texas Longhorns have the second best recruiting class behind only Alabama in 2012. What does this mean for Longhorn fans? It simply means the Texas Longhorns are going to be a factor in the National Championship picture the next few years.
Texas was able to land two 5-star recruits and 14 4-star recruits. One name Longhorn fans want to pay close attention to is Johnathan Gray. He is a running back with great speed and had almost 4,000 yards rushing and he scored 65 TD's in his senior season. Those are some amazing numbers and he is bringing that talent to Texas to thrill Longhorn fans. Texas has had some down years lately, but they have stayed the course and now they are reaping the rewards. Look for the Texas Longhorns to be one of the teams that could surprise in 2012. With the bumper crop of talent coming in and what is already there we could be hearing Hookem Horns a lot in 2012 and beyond.

Is Andrew Luck Pushing Peyton Manning Out The Door?
Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck most likely will be the choice of the Indianapolis Colts and he has made it cleared he would like to start as a rookie. Now he also said that he would like to learn from Peyton Manning as well. Well, Andrew Luck you really cannot have it both ways. Could Andrew Luck's desire to start push Peyton Manning out of Indianapolis? It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Today, Peyton Manning was cleared to start playing again, so that should complicate it even more. The Colts could have two very good quarterbacks, but only room for one player. This reminds me a lot about the same situation like they had in Green Bay. Brett Favre was eventually let go and I think that is what will happen to Peyton Manning. Andrew Luck is younger and the Colts will look at their future and Peyton will not be around forever. As much as it pains me to say this I just do not see Peyton Manning finishing his career in Indy!

What Has Happen To My Pro Wrestling?
Okay I will admit I am one of those professional wrestling junkies from way back. I watched Georgia Championship Wrestling every Saturday Night when it was on. Yes, this post may not be as sports related as I usually talked about, but I wanted to talk about the decline of this once popular sport. OMG did I just call it a sport. Okay, sports entertainment is the more proper term as do not want to offend anyone. I have over the years watched professional wrestling go downhill and it looks like there is no end in sight.
During the peak of Professional Wrestling stars like Hulk Hogan, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Superstar Billy Graham, and Ric Flair were megastars. Most of these have retired or died, and some just do not wrestle anymore. Of course there was a lot of names I did not mention and in the comments mention your favorite wrestler as I would love to know who you cheered for. Fast forward today and you have professional wrestling without the stars anymore. The wrestlers like The Undertaker, and Triple H are just getting to old to do it anymore.
The WWE and others have struggled to find those big name stars that fans have come to expect from them. Fans instead are being treated to wrestlers way passed their prime and that is a shame. During the 80's and 90's when wrestling was at it's peak new faces could always be found, but that is not the case anymore. Yes, professional wrestling is in decline and I do not think it will ever get back to where it once was anytime soon.

Jim Tressel Lands Job In Akron As An Administrator
Jim Tressel has found another job, but not the kind that we may all think. Tressel who resigned from Ohio State will be taking a job with the University of Akron as an Administrator. Tressel has been hired as vice president for strategic engagement and will earn a base salary of $200,000 per year. The job starts May. 1 and he will be working with alumni, community organizations and friends of the school to develop strategies and efforts to help students succeed.
It is a non-athletic position and should be a good move for Jim Tressel. I do hope he does get back into coaching at some point as he was a good football coach. He made some bad decisions and that really hurt him. Getting a fresh start is what he needed and starting somewhere else is a good idea for him. Hopefully, somewhere down the road we will see him again on the football field coaching.

Danica Patrick Should Earn A Spot Not Be Given One
After I read about Danica Patrick and how she got her spot in the Daytona 500 I find myself not really happy the way it went down. I mean yes they bought there spot and that is legal under Nascar rules. I just do not think it is fair to other drivers trying to make the field. Yes, people will say they could have bought the spot, but most do not have the backing or that kind of money. If they want to get into the Daytona 500 they must race in. This is what Danica Patrick should have been forced to do as well. I am against people buying spots into this race.
Nascar has gotten away from a level playing field and that is why one-car teams have very little chance for success these days. Rickey Rudd found out how tough it was even with a good sponsor. Earning your spot in the big show is how it should be done. Dancia Patrick may have qualified anyways, but I still would have liked to see her earn it. Buying spots because you have deep pockets in my opinion is just wrong in my opinion.

Aaron Rodgers Calls Out His NFC Pro Bowl team!
I knew I liked Aaron Rodgers for many reasons, but calling out his NFC Pro Bowl was a great move in my opinion. As fans we all know when it comes to the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl rarely do players run or play all-out for the fans. Even though fans pay top dollars for tickets all season long players look at this game as a game they do not have to play hard in. I give Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers credit for calling out his team. Most players would just let it go, but at least he addressed it. This was a long time coming and he should be applauded for it.
The AFC routed the NFC 59-41 in a game that drew boos at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu and for good reason. Fans as a whole are getting tired of players not go all out. The problem is there really is no easy solution to the problem. Players will not play all out in these kinds of games, as it always has been that way and it won't change anytime soon. I guess it's just something we will have to continue to deal with as fans, and it looks like players too. At least Aaron Rodgers stood up and said something, as he could have swept it under the rug, but he didn't.

NBA Schedule Feb 1, 2012
Tonight should find some interesting games for NBA fans to watch. I really like the Chicago and Philadelphia match-up. The Bulls are very good and the 76ers are a team that have been playing very well this season. Indiana and Minnesota is another match-up to keep your eyes on. I really like what the Pacers are doing this season and Minnesota is another team that have won some games that I thought they would lose. Some interesting games for all NBA fans to watch tonight.
