Mike Riley Nebraska's Latest Savior

The Nebraska Cornhuskers were in search of a capable replacement for fired coach Bo Pelini. Apparently, the search was not as extensive as we first thought it would be. Nebraska settled on Mike Riley from Oregon State as there next head coach. Let's see a show of hands who like this hire. I will admit being a long time Husker fan I do have my reservations about Riley as the head coach.

Yes, Riley has won some Bowl games, but is not the kind of guy that has a Championship resume that the Cornhuskers were looking for. Many people think the Cornhuskers could have gotten a better coach and they are probably correct. I am sure Nebraska asked around, but really probably got no one that wanted to leave their programs for the Huskers.

Mike Riley is a good coach and given enough time he maybe able to get the program going where it needs to be. I do know he has some big wins and he is a like able kind of guy. Hopefully, that will transfer into more star players coming to Nebraska. I guess we will just have to wait and see how it all works out. Right now like him or hate him Mike Riley will lead the Cornhuskers into the 2015 season.

Jerry Jones Now Wishes Johnny Manziel Was A Dallas Cowboy

You know this has to be killing Jerry Jones that he did not get to draft Johnny Manziel. Jerry Jones is a riverboat gambler and usually he gambles, but this time around people around him would not let him gamble. Was it a wise decision not to draft Manziel? That really is a hard question to answer these days because you really never know for a few years.

Jones was in a tough position as he has Tony Romo and bringing in Manziel would have just caused friction. The team made the right decision, but if Manziel does real well Jones will be kicking himself for a very long time to come. In the NFL you never know how things will work out. One time you can find a gem and sometimes you will not. The verdict is still out on Johnny Manziel.

Will The Cavaliers Become The Darth Vader Of The NBA This Year?

Now that Lebron James has made his return to Cleveland are the Cavaliers becoming the Darth Vader of the NBA. When James went to Miami he was hated for surrounding himself with good players and spurning the Cleveland Cavaliers. Will the same scenario play out in Cleveland? It very could and here is why.

Yes, James is loved in Cleveland, but around the league I cannot imagine this will sit well. Players just joining the Cavaliers because they think they can win a championship. This just fuels resentment from other teams, fans, and the public in general. Remember when Lebron was going to win not 4, not 5, not 6 okay we know the story Lebron.

Cleveland is slowly becoming the Darth Vader of the NBA. Being hated isn't always a bad thing if you win. The Oakland Raiders are a prime example, but they have not won in a long time. Ask their fans how enjoyable it is to lose season after season. If James wins another championship it will be interesting to see how he is perceived. Will he be loved or marked as Darth Vader forever.

Can Dwayne Wade Get Back To MVP Form?

Okay most people are probably thinking what in the hell are you thinking. Durant, Bryant, James Westbrook and Dirk are a few of the names that come to mind before Dwayne Wade.  Why do I think Wade will be MVP it's actually pretty simple. Let's look at why I think this could very well be one of Wade's best seasons ever.

The last few years Dwayne Wade has taken a backseat to let his teammates come to the forefront. This does not mean Wade did not want to it was him being a team player. Yes, he has been injured, but he should be pretty healthy going into this season. Wade also will have a chip on his shoulder. Most people think that Lebron James was the only reason the Heat won their championships.

Dwayne Wade has something to prove and this coming season I expect him to be a standout. With James gone he can be the man once again. Look for Dwayne Wade to have a MVP season. If he does the Heat could head back to the NBA Finals.

What Has Happened To Baseball?

Baseball for so many years was labeled America's pastime, but I fear that may not be the case anymore. Growing up I remember going to the ballpark every week enjoying the game with my family. There was specials all the time, so it was very affordable, but that is not the case anymore. I played little league growing up and one day I wanted to be just like my idols. It never happened, but hey kids are allowed to dream.

The baseball I see today do not even look like the sport I loved growing up as a kid. We have steroids, cheating and all kinds of things going on. It's not about the fans anymore it's all about money and that is sad. There was a time where kids could go to the ballpark and eat hotdogs with their families and try to get a foul ball in their glove along with some autographs.

Where has real baseball gone? Soccer, football, and basketball have taken over for baseball it seems. Little league is getting less players and leagues are vanishing quickly. I fear the sport I love is dying a slow death and my grandson will miss out on all the fun baseball was for me growing up. Hopefully, people will see what the game has become and give it back to the fans. I know that will not happen, but I can dream just like I did about being in the Major Leagues.

NFL Dropped The Ball With Ray Rice Suspension

The NFL had a chance to make a stand against domestic violence and they fumbled it away on the goal line. Ray Rice committed domestic violence and that is something that cannot be tolerated by the NFL or even the Baltimore Ravens. The punishment that the NFL came up with was a two game suspension. You got to be kidding me. That is a slap on the wrist and Ray Rice should feel fortunate that is all he got.

Now his coach or even the Baltimore Ravens could also make a stand, but do not look for that to happen. In fact, I bet the Ravens are happy with the punishment as he will only miss two games when he could have missed alot more. I guess the NFL does not consider domestic violence a serious offense, especially when you get four games for PED's. It's a shame that the NFL did not step up and do the right thing, but this really should not surprise anyone that's for sure.

Can Cleveland Learn From Past Mistakes?

The Cleveland Cavaliers have really struggled since The Decision, but now that could be a thing of the past with Lebron James coming back to the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers made a lot of mistakes the first go around with James and it's starting to look like they could be making the same mistakes the second tour of duty with James. Early in his career James was given anything he wanted and that was the Cavaliers downfall.

Now we are on the second go around and it looks like James is getting everything he wants once again. James wanted Mike Miller on the team and other players he liked could be next in line. Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with adding pieces to your team, but you can't let James make these kind of decisions.

Many people are on the bandwagon when it comes to getting Kevin Love to Cleveland. I will admit I am not one of those people. Love is a very good player, but to give up Wiggins and others to get him is just not worth it in my opinion. I hope the Cavaliers are not repeating mistakes from the past, but it seems they might be.
