Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers took home the National League MVP trophy even though some thought Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers should have won it. Kemp did have better numbers than Braun, but when you play on a third place team that's what happens.
I had Braun winning the title because he carried the Brewers in September and is a clutch player when the Brewers needed him. Kemp was hindered by not playing in meaningful games in September. No matter who one both would have been a good choice. Braun pocketed an extra 100,000 for the MVP win.

Justin Verlander Grabs AL MVP Award
Justin Verlander is up for the AL MVP, but should he get it over everyone else? One of his main competitors will be Jacob Ellsbury. For Ellsbury he batted .321 with 32 home runs, 105 RBIs, scored 119 runs and had 39 stolen bases, making him the only 30-30 man in the history of the Boston Red Sox. Toss in a gold glove and you can see why many people think he could win the AL MVP.
For Justin Verlander his stats are very impressive for a pitcher. Verlander was 24-5 with a 2.40 ERA, threw 251 innings, allowed 174 hits, struck out 250 batters, had a .920 WHIP. He won the Cy Young and helped the Detroit Tigers win their division and a spot in the playoffs. Choosing between Ellsbury and Verlander is a tough decision, but here is why Verlander deserves to be AL MVP.
You take Justin Verlander out of the lineup for the Tigers for an extended amount of time they do not win the division or as many games as they did. He was a vital part of the Tigers success and without him they are just a .500 ball team. This is why Justin Verlander deserves to be AL MVP. He has similar numbers just like Roger Clemens had when he won the AL MVP in 1986. I will admit I will be kind of shocked if Verlander does not in it.
Today, Justin Verlander walked away with the AL MVP. An award that he deserved. It's a rare feat when you see a pitcher win the AL MVP and CY Young award in the same year. This just shows you how dominate Justin Verlander was this year.

Tony Stewart Smokes Competition And Grabs Third Nascar Championship
Tony Stewart did not give himself much of a chance to win the Nascar Championship before the Chase started, but it seems like he was just blowing smoke up his competition's tailpipe. Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards finished tied for the Nascar point lead, but because Stewart had five wins and Edwards only one Stewart is the new Nascar champion.
You have to give Tony Stewart a lot of credit as I never thought he had a chance of winning the Nascar championship at all. Before the chase started he struggled, but when the Chase got started it seemed to renew him and no one could find a way to derail him one bit. Carl Edwards did all he could do, but it was not enough to stop Smoke. It was Tony Stewart's third Nascar Championship and probably his sweetest one. The main reason for that is he is a owner and driver and that makes it even more sweeter.

Orioles Bring Back Cartoon Bird To The Fold
The Baltimore Orioles decided to bring back a redesigned bird that they have had on their uniforms in the past. I always loved the Bird and remember collecting baseball cards and you would get the Bird on stickers. Over the years the Bird was popular, but sorta of got phased out by the Orioles, but is making a comeback which is great to see.
Now bring the Bird back is great to see, but the performance on the field is what Orioles fans would like to see. If they cannot improve on the field the Bird will just be an after thought. Of course if Baltimore does play better you will hear people say it's because the Bird is back. No matter what the cartoon Bird is back, but for how long is anyone's guess.

Baltimore Ravens Show Why They Can't Be Trusted Once Again
After the Baltimore Ravens beat the Pittsburgh Steelers you would think that they were ready to climb to elite status in the American Football Conference. Guess Again? The Ravens decided to lay another egg this time in the form of letting the lowly Seattle Seahawks beat them. Turnovers and poor execution did the Ravens in and now how can anyone really consider them in the upper class of the AFC. I am beginning to wonder if they can beat a good team when the playoffs roll around.
If you are an elite team you just cannot lose to teams you should easily beat. The Ravens have not learned that lesson and it could come back to haunt them. One week they look like Super Bowl contenders the next week they cannot beat a team that is horrible at best. I guess the Ravens think that just beating the good teams is all they must do. It just does not work that way and the sooner they learn it the better off they will be.

College Football News And Notes Nov 13, 2011
Well it was another crazy college football weekend where we seen some of the elite teams go down to defeat. Boise State found out that you must show up for every game as TCU beat them. Stanford and Andrew Luck also found out that the Oregon Ducks are tough at home and pinned a loss on Stanford and knocked them out of the National Title hunt once again.
Oklahoma State rolled and it looks like the last game of the season may be the only stumbling block for the Cowboys. That stumbling block is a big one though in the form of the Oklahoma Sooners. LSU continued to roll and now you have to give some careful consideration to the Ducks after their rout. Alabama is still lurking around and could be a player in all of this. We still have some games to play, so this one could get interesting down the stretch for some teams.

Penn State Falls To Nebraska 17-14 As Healing Process Starts
Penn State has had a rough week and they could not overcome Rex Burkhead and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Burkhead ran for 121 yards and a touchdown for Nebraska (8-2, 4-2) before the Nittany Lions scored 14 points on two second-half touchdown runs by Stephfon Green. It was a tough day for the Nittany Lions who played without their coach Joe Paterno who was fired this week. It had to be tough on the players to get ready for the game, but they never quit and played hard throughout the game.
A touching moment before the game can when Nebraska and Penn State players should solidarity on the field before the game. It was a great thing that the Nebraska team to do, as it showed that the game was just a side note to the horrible things that have been going on at Penn State, that very few seemed to know about. Many people thought they should have cancelled the game, but that would not have been fair to the fans or the players who had nothing to do with it. In the end, it was a good game and Penn State should be proud of their football team and their fans for keeping it classy all the way through.

First Red Sox To Leave Is Johnathan Papelbon As He Signs With The Phillies
It seems the exit from Boston is starting and the first guy leaving town looks like Johnathan Papelbon the Red Sox closer. Papelbon, the longtime Red Sox right-hander who has anchored their bullpen for six years, including a World Series title in 2007, has agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies pending a physical. Now to be honest I do not know what the Philadelphia Phillies gave him that kind of money, but they must see something in him.
Papelbon at times was very good, but at times he was a mystery and you did not know what you were going to get from him. I think the Phillies overpaid for Papelbon, but only time will tell how it will work out for the Phillies and the closer. Switching over to the National League maybe a little tough, but we will see what happens to him and if he can still be a top closer.

Raiders Stop Chargers 24-17
The Oakland Raiders who in recent years have struggled against the San Diego Chargers finally found a way to beat them. Michael Bush rushed 30 times for 157 yards and Carson Palmer is getting better as he was 14 of 20 for 299 yards, with one interception. It was a rough start for Palmer as a Raider, but he has improved and with last night's performance he should only get better. The Raiders (5-4) broke a two-game losing streak and took a half-game lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.
For the Chargers it was their fourth loss in a row and Phillip Rivers continues to struggle. His numbers were not bad, but he keeps making mistakes when the Chargers can least afford it. The Chargers (4-5) looked bad most of the night and lost left tackle Marcus McNeill, right guard Louis Vasquez and linebacker Takeo Spikes to injuries which does not help them at all. Luckily for the Chargers they are in a bad division and still can win it even at 4-5.

In The Dugout: Boston Red Sox Need Accountability For 2012
Looking from the outside the Boston Red Sox did not have a bad year. They did finished with a 90-72 record, but that was not good enough for a playoff spot this past season. In Boston it is playoffs or bust, so this was a busted season by their standards. Offensively, the Boston Red Sox were first in runs, slugging percentage, and on base average, and second in batting average. The problem was not on offense it was on defense and pitching. The bullpen let to many leads slip away and the starting pitching was horrible at times.
The Red Sox also had accountability issues as well. It seems drinking and many other things were going on under Terry Francona's watch and now he is no longer the manager. The next guy they bring into Boston must make the players accountable for the things they do on and off the field. Until that is done the Red Sox will continue to struggle. David Oritz has said he probably wants out of Boston and maybe bringing in Carlos Beltran is something they may want to do.
Right now the number one thing for the Boston Red Sox is to get a guy in their that will make everyone accountable for their own actions. No more doing what you want when you want to do it. A tough manager is needed to get this team going in the right direction. The Red Sox are still very talented, but to get back to where they want to be changes will need to be made.

Penn State Sexual Abuse Case Gets Gloomier By The Day
It seems if all the reports are true that are floating around this sex abuse scandal goes much deeper than first thought. Some reports go as far as to say Jerry Sandusky used his foundation to pimp young men out to large donors. If that is true that is horrific so say the least. There are many other stories circulating around, but we will just have to wait and see.
This smells like a cover-up and I will bet you it goes very deep with a lot of people having their hand in it. We probably will never know the extent of all this, but it is a lesson learned and more safety barriers must be in place. This should never happen and as adults the Penn State University failed them. In the end they must be held accountable for the mistakes they made.

Could This Be The End For Joe Paterno?
According to various media outlets the University of Penn State is looking for an exit plan for Joe Paterno to leave the school. This in my opinion is totally unfair the Joe Paterno. What has his crime been? He reported the allegations when he was alerted about them. He did what was asked of him. Now for him to be ushered out because he did not do more is stupid.
This has been a three year investigation and Paterno has cooperated with the investigation. The funny about the whole story is Paterno did what he was suppose to and now that is not good enough. Yes, it is a shame what has happen to the kids, and what they went through. You cannot expect a college football coach to follow all his coaches around to make sure they do the right things. He cannot be expected to follow his players around either to make sure they stay out of trouble.
To taint Joe Paterno's legacy because he did nothing wrong is wrong in it's own right. Pushing him out the door for doing what he was suppose to do is wrong. I guess we just do not do the right things anymore when it comes to people who do things that right way. That is a shame as Joe Paterno deserved much better treatment.

Michael Vick Tops List Of Most Disliked In NFL Poll
Forbes.com reported Monday that Vick is the NFL's most disliked player, according to a poll by Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research. Aroung 60 percent did not really like Michael Vick. I guess once your hated it's hard to get rid of that tag. Second in the poll was Plaxico Burress where 56 percent disliked him. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was accused of sexual assault last year but wasn't charged finished third followed by Albert Haynesworth.
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler finished fifth at 38 percent. Patriots receiver Chad Ochocinco (35 percent), Eagles backup QB Vince Young (32 percent), Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer (31 percent), Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey, who both were at 29 percent. I guess some of the top stars are not liked like they would have hoped. Oh well they can always look at the positive they all are paid pretty well to be disliked.

Kyle Busch Fined And Put On Probation For Antics In Texas
Kyle Busch is young and it looks like it will take him some time for him to learn how to do things the right way. After parking Busch for the weekend at Texas Nascar came down on him even more. Busch got fined 50,000 dollars and was put on probation for the rest of the season. If Busch has another incident he could face an indefinite suspension from Nascar. Now after all of these punishments you would think that is all for Busch, but it may not be.
Joe Gibbs Racing and M&M's the car sponsor has not said what they may add to the punishment if they do at all. No matter what this has been costly for Busch and hopefully he will learn from this all. Busch is a young man who loses his cool to easily. He needs to learn to think before he acts, so he does not get in so much trouble. He is one of the most talented drivers in Nascar, but that will do him no good if he is suspended.

Les Miles May Not Get The Respect He Deserves But All He Does Is Win
When you talk about College Football coaches the name Les Miles is usually hardly mention or way down the list. It should not be that way, but unfortunately that is they way it is. Miles by now should get a lot more respect than he does. Going into this season he has had many off the field things to deal with as some players got into trouble. Miles stayed the course and now he is on top of the College Football world once again. His LSU Tigers are No.1 in the polls and BCS Standings.
Why doesn't Les Miles get the respect he deserves? There are probably tons of reasons for that, but in reality he really does not care. He does things his own way, and so far it has gotten him a National Championship and he may add to that very soon with a second one. His career mark of 99-38 is very respectable, but it seems no one cares. Les Miles is one of the elite College Football coaches even though no one seems to acknowledge it. Ask LSU fans if they would trade their coach for anyone else and you will get a resounding NO!!

NFL Surprises This Season No One Expected
We are half way through the NFL season and it is time to look at some of the surprises that no one expected. Now most people thought the Green Bay Packers were going to be good, but not this crazy good. They are without the doubt the cream of the crop. Some of the other surprise teams are Cincinnati who sport an impressive 6-2 record and tied for first place. The Houston Texans look like they may finally get to the playoffs finally as this team looks very good.
Out of all the teams that have shocked me would be the San Francisco 49ers who are 7-1 and easily running away with the NFC West. Jim Harbaugh is getting the job done with the same players that no one else could. Give Harbaugh a lot of credit for getting the 49ers back so quickly and a title contender in his first NFL season as a head coach. That's some impressive stuff to say the least.
The AFC West or should I say the AFC Least as this is a division anyone could win as no team seems to want to take control of this division. San Diego is probably the biggest surprise for me. They have talent and they never seem to get it going until it is too late. Norv Turner better watch out as he could be looking for a job soon if the Chargers continue to slide backwards.

Don't Count Tim Tebow Out Just Yet As Broncos Win 38-24
It looks like no matter how hard we try to write off Denver Broncos Tim Tebow he survives another week. Tim Tebow was not great against the Oakland Raiders going 10-21 for 124 yards and two touchdowns. The most important stat though is the Broncos won the game by a score of 38-24. What really help Tebow in this game was Willis McGahee rushed for 163 yards and Tebow added 117. If the Broncos get those kind of numbers every week from those two players they have a chance to win.
Back to Tim Tebow and his play at quarterback. He was not real effective, but he is getting a little better. The offense is being designed more around what he can do and that will help him out a lot. Tebow still does not look very comfortable, and it may take awhile before he is that's for sure. Give Tebow time and he may just become an NFL quarterback. That is something his critics do not want to hear, but it is a distinct possibility.

BCS Championship Series Rankings Nov 7, 2011
LSU holds the top spot in the BCS ranking and will keep it unless they lose. Oklahoma State will probably stay No.2 unless they lose as well. Alabama could sneak in by one of the Top two teams losing. Boise State sits fifth with another winning season and little chance for a National Title sot again. It's a shame, but with the system we have in place they are always going to get screwed.

Tony Stewart grab a Texas win and now the pressure gets tighter on Carl Edwards as Stewart now just trails Edwards by just three points. With only two races left this should get very interesting. NBA Should Just Cancel Season Now As It Has Become A Sham
No matter how you look at it NBA commissioner David Stern should just cancel the NBA season as it has become a sham. The owners have given their latest proposal to the players that probably will not get voted on as it is not very good. Toss in the owners said that from here the offers will just get worse. The players are in a corner, but you will not force their hand at this point in the discussions. Look for the NBA season to be cancel in the not to distant future.
Neither side really wants a deal as they are both holding out for what they want and not willing to compromise. Cancelling the season is best as there has been to many lost games already. This way by cancelling the season both sides can work on getting the type of contract that both want. The NBA fans could care less about NBA basketball at this point anyways. They will just watch college basketball and other sports. The NBA is only hurting itself, but I guess they must learn that lesson the hard way.

Kyle Busch Apology Letter Did It Go Far Enough To Make Amends
Kyle Busch crafted an letter of apology, or probably his PR people did for him. Will it make a difference now or help him move forward. The letter is below I thought i would let my Sports blogging Network readers decide on their own.
To all,
I've had a lot of time today to sit and reflect, and try to put my thoughts into words as best I can.
I want to sincerely apologize for my actions during Friday night's Truck Series race at Texas.
I apologize to my fans, all my sponsors, everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch Motorsports.
After talking with my team, it's great to have their support and encouragement to assure me that there are better days ahead. Even though this took place while driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, I am sorry for how difficult this has been for everyone associated with Joe Gibbs Racing's Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series teams.
I'd also like to apologize to Ron Hornaday Jr., and everyone associated with the No. 33 team in the Truck Series.
I understand why I was taken out of the car for the rest of the weekend. NASCAR officials had to act, and I accept their punishment and take full responsibility for my actions.
As a racecar driver, the hardest thing to do is to sit on the sidelines listening to cars on the track when you know you should be out there competing. For this, I have no one to blame but myself.
Through a lot of support from the people around me, I feel like I've made a lot of strides this year, but this was certainly a step backward. Moving forward, I will do everything I possibly can to represent everyone involved in a positive manner. However, I know my long-term actions will have more of a bearing than anything I say right now.
Sincerely,
Kyle Busch

AP Top 25 College Football Poll Nov 6, 2011
LSU kept it's hold on the top after the win against Alabama. Oklahoma State moved up to No.2 and could be in the National Championship game if they win out. Stanford is now No.3 and Boise State is No.5 and did get a first place vote. It looks like Boise State could run the table and not get a chance to play for a National Championship once again.

Should We Have Another Alabama vs LSU Rematch In BCS Championship Game
Alabama vs LSU was a great defensive game with LSU coming out on top. Of course if Alabama's kicker was any good at all it would have been a different outcome. You have to give Les Miles and his group credit for winning the game. Many people are already asking for a rematch in the BCS championship game between these two teams. Now that is possible, but highly unlikely. These maybe the best two teams in college football, but the BCS rarely pits rematches in their Championship games.
Oklahoma State, Stanford, and the BCS buster Boise State are still in the mix. Right now Oklahoma State has the best shot at it especially if they can beat Oklahoma the last game of the season. Now if Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State do not count the Sooners out of the National Title Hunt just yet. The next few weeks will tell us a lot, but a LSU-Alabama rematch is highly unlikely no matter how good it maybe. It's a shame we just can't have a playoff and then we could find who the best team is after all.

NBA Owners Throw Players A Bone Will They Accept Latest Offer By Wednesday
The lines have been drawn in the sand and now it is time to see if the NBA players are united or the rank and file is crumbling. The NBA owners gave their latest proposal to the players and they have to Wednesday to decide on it. Do not look for the players to accept it and the lockout will go on. It is not much different than proposals in the past that the players have vetoed.
Owners and players are not on the same page and they are more interested in getting the best deal for them and not the NBA product or the fans, so this will go on. The NFL was able to work something out, so the NBA could as well. I guess you might as well figure no NBA this season, and that is a shame as they are hurting many average people who depend on the NBA as their source of income. Of course we are talking about millionaires, so they really do not care about the fan or average person in the end.

Penn State Ex Coach Others Charged In Child Sex Case Today
Former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, 67 was arrested and accused of molesting eight boys, and two school administrators were charged with failing to tell police when a witness told them he saw a boy being sexually assaulted in the shower. This is bad and it seems this investigation has been going on for quite some time at Penn State. If the allegations are true that is very sad. Joe Paterno is not implicated and when Paterno first learned of one report of abuse, he immediately reported it to Tim Curley athletic director.
I hope these allegations are not true, but some have called Jerry Sandusky a child predator. If this is true I wonder how many kids are afraid to come forward to tell their story. If it happen at Penn State I am sure it has happened at other places as well. There needs to be more watch over coaches in the future, so we do not have this problem anymore. It is a very sad case with a bleak outlook it seems.

The Rock Decides To Team With John Cena For Survivor Series
It seems John Cena needed a tag team partner, and he asked The Rock to be that Tag Team partner against R-Truth and The Miz at Survivor Series. The problem was he had to wait for The Rock to give him his answer. I think everyone knew The Rock would accept as he hates The Miz and R-Truth as bad as he does Cena. I guess you have to look at it's the lesser of the two evils.
By having Cena and The Rock team-up it is a great way to lead into WrestleMania which is coming up and the not so distant future. Look for The Rock and John Cena struggle as a tag team, but it should be fun to watch. Below is a video where The Rock tells John Cena he will be his partner.

What Should The Next Moves Be For The Brewers
No that the season is over the Milwaukee Brewers have some thinking to do. Prince Fielder is a free agent and a number guys on the team are as well. Milwaukee did decline the option on Francisco Rodriguez, so he is free to go. Milwaukee was never going to keep him anyways, so it was not a big loss. Yuniesky Betancourt was another player that the Brewers are releasing and will be getting a buyout like Rodriguez. I do not look for Betancourt to be back at all.
Milwaukee needs to make a decision Fielder soon as they must either move forward or try to make some kind of good offer towards him. I love Fielder, but as I have written before letting him go is the Brewers best option. Milwaukee needs a good everyday shortstop and the money we spend on Fielder can help the Brewers in many other ways. Fielder will be missed, but sometimes you just have to move on.
Getting more starting pitching is something the Brewers need to look into as well. Third base is another question mark for Milwaukee. Will they give Casey McGehee another chance, or will they groom someone else for that position. As you can see the Milwaukee Brewers have many questions they must get answers to and real soon.

Kyle Bush Parked For Weekend After Truck Race Incident
Kyle Busch learned that Nascar does not take kindly to wrecking others on caution laps no matter what happens. Ron Hornaday Jr. was the guy that rubbed Busch the wrong way and he found out that you do not mess with Kyle Busch. For Busch Nascar decided his punishment would be no more racing this weekend. Busch could even be in for more come Monday when Nascar usually hands out fines and other things. For now though all Kyle Busch has to serve is a weekend penalty, buy it could have been a lot worse for him.

College Football Schedule Nov 4-5, 2011
This weekend in College Football some great games on tap. No.1 vs No2 LSU and Alabama should be the highlight of the day, but South Carolina and Arkansas should also be interesting. I am watching the Oregon and Washington game as it could be much closer as Washington has really improved. A great weekend for College Football.
