Papelbon at times was very good, but at times he was a mystery and you did not know what you were going to get from him. I think the Phillies overpaid for Papelbon, but only time will tell how it will work out for the Phillies and the closer. Switching over to the National League maybe a little tough, but we will see what happens to him and if he can still be a top closer.

First Red Sox To Leave Is Johnathan Papelbon As He Signs With The Phillies
It seems the exit from Boston is starting and the first guy leaving town looks like Johnathan Papelbon the Red Sox closer. Papelbon, the longtime Red Sox right-hander who has anchored their bullpen for six years, including a World Series title in 2007, has agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies pending a physical. Now to be honest I do not know what the Philadelphia Phillies gave him that kind of money, but they must see something in him.

Raiders Stop Chargers 24-17
The Oakland Raiders who in recent years have struggled against the San Diego Chargers finally found a way to beat them. Michael Bush rushed 30 times for 157 yards and Carson Palmer is getting better as he was 14 of 20 for 299 yards, with one interception. It was a rough start for Palmer as a Raider, but he has improved and with last night's performance he should only get better. The Raiders (5-4) broke a two-game losing streak and took a half-game lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.
For the Chargers it was their fourth loss in a row and Phillip Rivers continues to struggle. His numbers were not bad, but he keeps making mistakes when the Chargers can least afford it. The Chargers (4-5) looked bad most of the night and lost left tackle Marcus McNeill, right guard Louis Vasquez and linebacker Takeo Spikes to injuries which does not help them at all. Luckily for the Chargers they are in a bad division and still can win it even at 4-5.

In The Dugout: Boston Red Sox Need Accountability For 2012
Looking from the outside the Boston Red Sox did not have a bad year. They did finished with a 90-72 record, but that was not good enough for a playoff spot this past season. In Boston it is playoffs or bust, so this was a busted season by their standards. Offensively, the Boston Red Sox were first in runs, slugging percentage, and on base average, and second in batting average. The problem was not on offense it was on defense and pitching. The bullpen let to many leads slip away and the starting pitching was horrible at times.
The Red Sox also had accountability issues as well. It seems drinking and many other things were going on under Terry Francona's watch and now he is no longer the manager. The next guy they bring into Boston must make the players accountable for the things they do on and off the field. Until that is done the Red Sox will continue to struggle. David Oritz has said he probably wants out of Boston and maybe bringing in Carlos Beltran is something they may want to do.
Right now the number one thing for the Boston Red Sox is to get a guy in their that will make everyone accountable for their own actions. No more doing what you want when you want to do it. A tough manager is needed to get this team going in the right direction. The Red Sox are still very talented, but to get back to where they want to be changes will need to be made.

Penn State Sexual Abuse Case Gets Gloomier By The Day
It seems if all the reports are true that are floating around this sex abuse scandal goes much deeper than first thought. Some reports go as far as to say Jerry Sandusky used his foundation to pimp young men out to large donors. If that is true that is horrific so say the least. There are many other stories circulating around, but we will just have to wait and see.
This smells like a cover-up and I will bet you it goes very deep with a lot of people having their hand in it. We probably will never know the extent of all this, but it is a lesson learned and more safety barriers must be in place. This should never happen and as adults the Penn State University failed them. In the end they must be held accountable for the mistakes they made.

Could This Be The End For Joe Paterno?
According to various media outlets the University of Penn State is looking for an exit plan for Joe Paterno to leave the school. This in my opinion is totally unfair the Joe Paterno. What has his crime been? He reported the allegations when he was alerted about them. He did what was asked of him. Now for him to be ushered out because he did not do more is stupid.
This has been a three year investigation and Paterno has cooperated with the investigation. The funny about the whole story is Paterno did what he was suppose to and now that is not good enough. Yes, it is a shame what has happen to the kids, and what they went through. You cannot expect a college football coach to follow all his coaches around to make sure they do the right things. He cannot be expected to follow his players around either to make sure they stay out of trouble.
To taint Joe Paterno's legacy because he did nothing wrong is wrong in it's own right. Pushing him out the door for doing what he was suppose to do is wrong. I guess we just do not do the right things anymore when it comes to people who do things that right way. That is a shame as Joe Paterno deserved much better treatment.

Michael Vick Tops List Of Most Disliked In NFL Poll
Forbes.com reported Monday that Vick is the NFL's most disliked player, according to a poll by Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research. Aroung 60 percent did not really like Michael Vick. I guess once your hated it's hard to get rid of that tag. Second in the poll was Plaxico Burress where 56 percent disliked him. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was accused of sexual assault last year but wasn't charged finished third followed by Albert Haynesworth.
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler finished fifth at 38 percent. Patriots receiver Chad Ochocinco (35 percent), Eagles backup QB Vince Young (32 percent), Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer (31 percent), Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey, who both were at 29 percent. I guess some of the top stars are not liked like they would have hoped. Oh well they can always look at the positive they all are paid pretty well to be disliked.

Kyle Busch Fined And Put On Probation For Antics In Texas
Kyle Busch is young and it looks like it will take him some time for him to learn how to do things the right way. After parking Busch for the weekend at Texas Nascar came down on him even more. Busch got fined 50,000 dollars and was put on probation for the rest of the season. If Busch has another incident he could face an indefinite suspension from Nascar. Now after all of these punishments you would think that is all for Busch, but it may not be.
Joe Gibbs Racing and M&M's the car sponsor has not said what they may add to the punishment if they do at all. No matter what this has been costly for Busch and hopefully he will learn from this all. Busch is a young man who loses his cool to easily. He needs to learn to think before he acts, so he does not get in so much trouble. He is one of the most talented drivers in Nascar, but that will do him no good if he is suspended.

Les Miles May Not Get The Respect He Deserves But All He Does Is Win
When you talk about College Football coaches the name Les Miles is usually hardly mention or way down the list. It should not be that way, but unfortunately that is they way it is. Miles by now should get a lot more respect than he does. Going into this season he has had many off the field things to deal with as some players got into trouble. Miles stayed the course and now he is on top of the College Football world once again. His LSU Tigers are No.1 in the polls and BCS Standings.
Why doesn't Les Miles get the respect he deserves? There are probably tons of reasons for that, but in reality he really does not care. He does things his own way, and so far it has gotten him a National Championship and he may add to that very soon with a second one. His career mark of 99-38 is very respectable, but it seems no one cares. Les Miles is one of the elite College Football coaches even though no one seems to acknowledge it. Ask LSU fans if they would trade their coach for anyone else and you will get a resounding NO!!
