First Red Sox To Leave Is Johnathan Papelbon As He Signs With The Phillies

It seems the exit from Boston is starting and the first guy leaving town looks like Johnathan Papelbon the Red Sox closer. Papelbon, the longtime Red Sox right-hander who has anchored their bullpen for six years, including a World Series title in 2007, has agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies pending a physical. Now to be honest I do not know what the Philadelphia Phillies gave him that kind of money, but they must see something in him.

Papelbon at times was very good, but at times he was a mystery and you did not know what you were going to get from him. I think the Phillies overpaid for Papelbon, but only time will tell how it will work out for the Phillies and the closer. Switching over to the National League maybe a little tough, but we will see what happens to him and if he can still be a top closer.

Raiders Stop Chargers 24-17

The Oakland Raiders who in recent years have struggled against the San Diego Chargers finally found a way to beat them. Michael Bush rushed 30 times for 157 yards and Carson Palmer is getting better as he was 14 of 20 for 299 yards, with one interception. It was a rough start for Palmer as a Raider, but he has improved and with last night's performance he should only get better. The Raiders (5-4) broke a two-game losing streak and took a half-game lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.

For the Chargers it was their fourth loss in a row and Phillip Rivers continues to struggle. His numbers were not bad, but he keeps making mistakes when the Chargers can least afford it. The Chargers (4-5) looked bad most of the night and lost left tackle Marcus McNeill, right guard Louis Vasquez and linebacker Takeo Spikes to injuries which does not help them at all. Luckily for the Chargers they are in a bad division and still can win it even at 4-5.

We Will See If Baker Mayfield Was Worth The Money This Sunday Against Atlanta

This past Monday Night was very costly for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they lost both wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Evans should be...
